Using the MBTI Step III — Measuring Life & Work Effectiveness

APT/RTP   May 10, 2011, Program Change

Due to a family medical emergency Sondra VanSant will not be able to present on May 10th.

We are pleased to announce we have an alternative program planned for the evening.

The Red Book – the Book, a Video,

and Discussion

The Red Book is Carl Jung’s personal journal of his own self-psychoanalysis. After his break with Sigmund Freud, Jung was depressed and questioned the value of his work. He was in what we would call today a mid-life crisis. He began The Red Book in 1913, which was known as his “confrontation with the unconscious,” and would not stop writing in it until 1930.

During this confrontation, he developed a technique to find the underlying causes of the inner emotions, feelings, and fantasies that he was experiencing. He would later call this process, active imagination.

The psychoanalytic community has long known about the existence of The Red Book, however because of its revealing and raw exposure of Jung’s soul, his family refused to let it be published until 2009.

The program will feature excerpts from a 3-hour presentation by Dr. Murray Stein, co-President of the International School of Analytical Psychology in Zurich, Switzerland (ISAP, Zurich). A copy of The Red Book will be present for your viewing at our meeting.  Discussion will flow.

Description of the DVD from the Asheville Jung Center

Carl Jung’s Red Book

“One of the most carefully guarded Jungian tomes, the Red Book, contains the record of Jung’s most personal journey, a journey that brought him to the confluence of brilliance and insanity. With painstaking detail, numerous paintings, images, dialogues and reflections were recorded, revealing his rich archetypal world. It holds the inspiration for much of his pioneering theories and clinical techniques. In this 3-hour DVD seminar, Dr. Murray Stein leads us through a fascinating journey into Jung’s The Red Book.” – excerpts will be shown during the program
