When Jung was writing the Red Book, he wonder if anyone had ever explored the unconscious as he was doing. Then in the mid 1920’s, he received a book, “The Secret of the Golden Flower,” from a Methodist missionary to China, Richard Wilhelm, and Jung learned that he was not alone in his quest; the Chinese had been exploring the unconscious for centuries.
Wilhelm died in 1930, and now through the creative storytelling abilities of his film maker granddaughter, Bettina Wilhelm, we have a full length feature film recounting his life and friendship with Jung. The film is 90 minutes long which will give us time to discuss it after its showing.
